Supported Browsers

The Web Version of Stickflick uses cutting edge technology, and so it won't work in some web browsers.

Below is a list of browsers that are know to work, and those that are know not to work.

Where version numbers are given, this is the minimum version number that is known to work.

Supported Browsers

Linux

  • Mozilla Firefox 3.0.12
  • Epiphany 2.26.1
  • Galeon 2.0.6
  • Konquerer 4.2.2
  • Chromium 3.0.196.0 (0)

Windows

Untested, but I'm fairly certain that these will work :

  • Firefox
  • Google Chrome

OS X

Untested, but I expect Safari to work, as it uses the same technology as Konquerer.

FYI, Apple pioneered the canvas tag, which made Stickflick possible.

Thanks Apple :-)

Unsupported Browsers

  • Opera (9.64)
  • Internet Explorer (all versions)

Why Are Some Browsers Not Supported?

Stickflick uses cutting edge technology. Specifically it needs the html canvas tag, and it also needs a really fast javascript engine.

To date, no version of Internet Explorer supports the canvas tag, and Microsoft haven't said that they intend to implement it either :-(

Opera's support for the canvas tag is currently quite limited. It seems that their implementation is incomplete and/or buggy.

Will My Browser be Supported Soon?

When your browser conforms to the standards, then Stickflick will work. I don't plan to write any code to get around limitations of your web browser. So if your browser isn't supported, either :

  • Use one of the supported browsers
  • Moan to your browser vendor until they fix their browser
  • Use the Stand-Alone Version of Stickflick for Linux
  • Go away, and forget about Stickflick
